How to use the Wordle solver
- Place your greens. Add confirmed letters in their exact positions.
- Add your yellows. Enter letters you know are present, then exclude their incorrect positions in the yellow rows.
- Rule out absent letters. Add gray letters only when no copies of that letter are green or yellow.
- Choose your next guess. Review matching words and letter frequencies. Update the clues after each guess.
A quick example: CR__E with an A
If C and R are green in the first two positions and E is green in the fifth, fill in those three boxes. If A was yellow in position one, put A in the first yellow box. Add N to an absent box if all its copies were gray. CRATE, CRAVE and CRAZE fit those clues; CRANE does not.
For repeated letters, type the minimum number of copies in “Letters that must be in the word.” Green positions and yellow exclusions remain in effect across rows. Changing word length clears your clues.
This tool suggests dictionary words; it does not look up today’s answer and is not affiliated with Wordle or The New York Times.
Choose a useful next Wordle guess
With no clues yet, words such as CRANE, SLATE and TRACE test several common letters without repeating any. After each guess, keep the confirmed positions and update the exclusions. Do not rule out a letter just because one of its repeated copies turned gray.
The suggested guess favors common words, then words covering letters shared by the remaining matches. Letter percentages show how many matching dictionary words contain a letter; they are not the odds that a word is today’s answer.

Wordle solver questions
How do green, yellow and gray letters work?
Green letters stay in their exact positions. Yellow letters must appear in the word, but not in the positions where they were yellow. Gray letters are absent. The solver prevents you from marking a letter both present and absent; clear its existing clue before changing it.
How do I leave a letter box empty?
Press Space to move to the next box without adding a letter. Arrow keys move between boxes, Backspace erases, and typing a letter advances automatically. You can also paste letters with spaces for empty positions.
What if a repeated letter is both gray and yellow or green?
Keep that letter out of the absent boxes: at least one copy is present. To require multiple copies, repeat the letter in the required-letters field, such as AA for at least two As. This tool supports minimum counts, not exact or maximum counts.
Does this show today's official Wordle answer?
No. It filters an English dictionary using the clues you enter. Common words appear first, but some matches are uncommon or may not be accepted by your game. It is not affiliated with Wordle or The New York Times.
Is this solver free, and which word lengths does it support?
The solver is free and works in your browser without an account. Choose any word length from 3 to 15 letters. Standard Wordle uses five letters. Changing the length clears your clues.
Can I use the Wordle helper in hard mode?
Yes. Keep every green position and yellow letter from earlier guesses in the solver. Matching words respect those clues. If you know a letter must appear more than once, enter the minimum number of copies in the required-letters field. Always check your game's rules before submitting a guess.
Why are there no matching words?
Check the letter positions and absent boxes first. A gray duplicate should not exclude a letter that also has a green or yellow copy. Clear any clue entered by mistake. The dictionary may also differ from the words accepted by your game.
